Nominations, including self-nominations, are being sought for the Tulane Parent-Family Society President(s).
Mary Lou and Gus Meaher, who have served as the inaugural leaders of this organization, will be retiring from their roles since their daughter graduates in May 2010.

The nomination process for new leaders will remain open through Friday, October 30, 2009. The nominating committee, composed of the outgoing leadership of the society, will review nominations and make a recommendation to the Vice President for Student Affairs by mid-November 2009. The VPSA will appoint the new president(s) to begin serving in spring semester 2010.
Qualifications:
-The president (or co-president) must have a child currently enrolled at Tulane University.
-An individual may serve as president or a couple may serve as co-presidents.
-Ideally, the president(s) shall serve for two years.
Responsibilities:
-Lead the annual meeting of the Parent-Family Society held during Parent-Family Weekend in fall semester and a conference call meeting in spring semester.
-Consult with other leaders of the Parent-Family Society including regional and class representatives, project chairs and volunteers like the Pelican Partners.
-Support the Division of Student Affairs, which includes Parent Programs and Orientation and Student Transitions, by:
-Providing feedback or extra assistance to staff for programs and services
-Attending events for parents within Summer Orientation and Homecoming/Parent-Family Weekend
-Reaching out to other parents on behalf of Tulane University.
Purpose
The Tulane Parent-Family Society was founded to foster communication between the University and parents of undergraduate students. The society facilitates opportunities for parents and family members to participate in their student’s Tulane experience and to interact with other parents.

Membership
All parents of current Tulane students are automatically members of the society.
Current Leadership
Officers are appointed for a two year term. Officers are expected to attend the annual meeting during Parent-Family Weekend in the fall and participate in conference calls set by the president or the Office of Parent Programs.
Co-Presidents lead the annual meeting of the society during the fall Parent-Family Weekend; consult and collaborate with other society leaders and volunteers; and support the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Department of Orientation and the Office of Parent Programs by providing feedback or extra assistance to staff for programs and services, attending events for parents within Summer Orientation and Homecoming/Parent-Family Weekend and reaching out to other parents on behalf of Tulane University.
